2007 Coaching Staff
David Barger
Head Coach
David Barger is a 1992
graduate of Bledsoe County High School in Pikeville, TN. While at
Bledsoe he was a two sport athlete lettering in football and
Basketball. David earned a grant- aid to play football at Tennessee
Wesleyan College in Athens, TN. Barger was a member of the Bulldogs
1992 District 24 Championship football team that finished with an
overall record of 7-3. In 1993, David transferred to UT-Chattanooga
where he graduated in 1997 with a B.S. Degree in Education,
concentration Biology and General Science.
From 1993-1997 he was a volunteer assistant football coach for
Bledsoe County’s Middle School program. After graduation Barger
spent the 1997-1998 school year as head middle school coach at
Bledsoe County and head Boy’s Basketball Coach at Wheeler School in
Bledsoe County. David spent the next 5 years as an assistant
football coach at Marion County High School in Jasper, TN serving
the last two as Defensive Coordinator. During that five year span,
the Warriors made 4 playoff appearances and never had a losing
season.
In 2003 David accepted the Head Football coaching position at
Lake County High School in Tiptonville, TN. He took a team that had
gone 0-10 the previous season and led them to 3 playoff appearances
in 4 years as head coach. In 2006 the Falcons advanced to the
Quarterfinals of the TSSAA playoffs eventually falling to state
champion Jackson Christian School. While at Lake County Barger
compiled and overall record of 28 wins and 17 losses, earned region
Coach of the Year Awards in 2004 and 2006. In 2004 Barger was also
named Northwest Tennessee Coach of the Year by the officials
association.
David is 32 years old and is married to the former Dawn Foley of
Hixson, TN. The couple is expecting their first child in July.
John Crawford
Assistant Football Coach
Coach John
Crawford was born in Chattanooga, TN. He graduated from Central High
School in 1968, where he played on the offensive and defensive Line
for Coach Red Etter, Coach Stan Farmer, Coach Jake Seaton, and Coach
Jack Archer. He attended Murray State University where he also
played in the offensive line. He has been married to Jane Crawford
for 29 years and has a son named Michael who attends the University
of Tennessee. We are honored to have a coach who has always been
there for Central.
Brad
Kilpatrick
Assistant Football Coach
Coach Brad
Kilpatrick was born and raised in Florence, AL. He attended
Ooltewah High School where he was an offensive & defensive
lineman. He attended both Chattanooga State for 2 years and
then transferred to the University of Tennessee at
Chattanooga. He has been coaching at Central High School for
5 years. He is married to Christy and has 3 children named
Bailey, Brooke, & Judson. We are very happy to have Coach
Kilpatrick on our coaching staff and are looking forward to
the upcoming season.
Glen Carter
Assistant Football Coach
Coach Glen
Carter was born and raised in Chattanooga where he attended Red Bank
High School. He graduated in 1992 and went on to play baseball for
two years at Carson Newman and three years at the University of
Southern Mississippi. He served as the Head Baseball Coach and
Assistant Football Coach at North Jackson High School in Alabama
from 1998-2005. He enters his third year as Central’s baseball
coach and second year as an assistant football coach at Central. He
is married to Heather Necole Carter and has a two year old daughter
named
Madison.
Jason
Norwood
Assistant Football Coach
Coach Jason
Norwood was born and raised in
Athens,
TN.
He graduated from
McMinn County
High School and also played football. Jason coached football at
McMinn for five seasons before coming to Central in 2003. Jason is
married to Jaime and has nineteen month old twins; Cameron and
Addison. He is currently working on his teaching degree in both
English as a Second Language K-12, and K-6 education. He is excited
about the up-coming season and is confident that it will be a good
one.
